Painting

Vicki graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in illustration. As a freelancer in New York City, she had her pastel paintings commissioned by art directors in publishing and advertising.

After moving to Warren County, NJ, her focus shifted to landscapes and personal still life. In surveying nature or a domestic scene from behind an easel, she enjoys depicting the interplay of shape, light, and color to achieve a balance between foreground and background. The outdoors presents more chaos and the whims of nature in amorphous shapes and changing light. The indoor scenes offer more control and hard edges. Both represent a search for stability and comfort in an increasingly chaotic world. Pastels provide immediacy in capturing the fleeting moment.
