Painting
Creating art is, and always has been, part of my identity. It is the way I process and express my ideas, feelings and inner life as they interact with the world around me. My work is often inspired by nature, and the emotional responses that are evoked by the beauty and mystery of the physical world.
I was born and raised in New York City and Glen Cove, Long Island, where I attended the public schools and was fortunate to have gifted art teachers. I graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A., Columbia University with an M.A., and The Mount Sinai School of Medicine with an M.D. I am a practicing psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in New York City, and have been a resident of Greenwich Village, New York and Blairstown, New Jersey for more than thirty years.
From 2003 until 2006 I was represented by The Enderlin Gallery in New York where I had a two-man show in 2004 and 2005. Being a psychoanalyst has a profound effect on my art, and everything I paint is meant to convey meaning, which is sometimes beyond the reach of words.
