Barbara Matlaga

Glass Work & Jewelry

Barbara is a self-taught fused glass artist who joined Gallery 23 in 2013.  She started her glass journey in 2000, making glass beads at the torch in a small make shift garage studio.  She soon branched out making fused glass items and recently expanded her home studio that allows her to build her glass fusing skills.

She has always been attracted to color and interested in learning new techniques.  She has taken many classes at The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning NY, Warm Glass in Clemmons, NC, Salem Community College, Salem, NJ, and The Glass Underground in Warren, NJ.

Barbara’s fused glass work, at Gallery 23, reflects her desire to produce functional pieces, art glass display pieces as well as jewelry. She also enjoys making items that celebrate the seasons and holidays. You will always find something colorful and fun in her inventory.
